Streets Of Nairobi /

In September 2017 I travelled to Nairobi, Kenya for the first time in my life to see my family. During my time there, I have spent a lot of afternoons and evenings exploring this rich and vibrant city. I have met some very and interesting and stylish characters that walk (and live) in this city.

A point worth noting is that the folks who have agreed to have their pictures taken for this series are very homogenous. They represent a sample of the population who are photogenic, confident and comfortable enough to have their pictures taken. I have had many folks who didn't want their pictures, so the guys in this series aren't a true representation of the folks in Nairobi. That being said, I still think this series gives an interesting insight into the culture and diversity of Nairobi. I have met

various people with different interests and life purposes, such as makeup artists, fashion bloggers, models, fashion designers, expatriates and even some of the homeless folks who live on the streets of Nairobi.

This spontaneous project has been an insightful one. It really has taught me the power of the camera and the way it can be used as a medium to engage with humanity. It has given me a direction and a sense of purpose with my photography.
