"I am sixty-four and I am approaching retirement, over the past five years something I have really learned upon reflection is to not get worked up about the small and unnecessary things, work issues especially. When you do look back, you realise all these problems are very trivial and are not worth the hassle.
In some way, it’s almost worth not taking life too seriously. Having said that, I am lucky and grateful that life has been kind to me. I haven’t ended up in a cardboard box in Piccadilly Gardens. It’s very upsetting to see so many people on the streets, and sadly Manchester has one of the greatest numbers of people sleeping rough.
I am from Harrogate, Yorkshire, but I have lived in Manchester for over forty years now. Fortunately for me, If I want to go back to Harrogate, I just go back. I go for two or three items a year, although, my relationships are dwindling. Sometimes now I go back for funerals, I am sorry to say, as time goes by there are fewer and fewer of us – I guess that’s life." - Robert
