In summer 2017, I was with my mum walking towards Nairobi city centre. I saw these two individuals, who at the time appeared to be mother and son, laughing. I enjoyed the moment and felt the connection between them. So I walked up closer, and as I didn't want to intrude, I shot from the hip to capture this image.
This moment resonated with me, it was a visual stamp of a very key moment in my life. This was the third or fourth day being together with mum after almost two decades of separation.
Revisiting my hard-drive and seeing this image once again just felt surreal and brought back so many emotions. It's fascinating to see a moment right in front of you, in which you can greatly relate to and at the same time you can capture forever and hold onto as a tangible souvenir. Photography is magical and I feel privileged to have found it!
